Not all programs listed on this page are available every season.

The New Tecumseth & District Skating Club offers a variety of Learn to Skate and Figure Skating programs. All programs are taught by coaches certified through Skate Canada and their partnership with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

Skating Programs

Learn to Skate Programs

Parent & Tot A 30 minute program intended to provide exposure to skating for children ages 2 - 3 who have never been on the ice before or have had limited experience with skating.
Pre-CanSkate A 30 minute program designed for children 3 to 4 years old. The basics of forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, jumping and spinning are taught.
CanSkate A 45-50 minute program designed for children 5 years old or older. CanSkate is a dynamic learn to skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development.
PowerSkate

Get a step up on the competition with PowerSkate, a high-energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette players. This program focuses on balance, control and agility skills including components of power and speed. Skating skills, techniques and performance drills are taught in a progressive format by Skate Canada coaches certified through the NCCP to enhance the skating ability required in game situations.

Adult CanSkate A program for skaters 13 and older who are interested in learning to skate in an age appropriate group. Skaters will receive a 30 minute group lesson.

 

STARSkate Programs

Lil' Stars The Lil' Stars program is our transition program from CanSkate to STARSkate and is geared towards skaters who are interested in figure skating working on CanSkate stage 4, 5 & 6. Skaters will receive a 50 minutes a group lesson, including a 10 minute group warm up lesson and 5 minute group cool down lesson.
STAR 1-5 STAR 1-5 offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of Ice Dance, Skating Skills, Free Skate and Interpretive Skating. Skaters will attend lessons both Tuesday & Saturday. 
Adult STARSkate The Adult STARSkate program is similar to the STAR 1-5 program but is offered to adult skaters (18 plus) who have past figure skating experience. No group lessons are included in this program. Private lessons are available.
